Victoria Gold (OTCPK:VITFF) -8.4% In Toronto trading Friday after Yukon’s energy minister said high levels of cyanide Traces of gold ore were discovered in a stream following a filtration platform collapse and ore slide at the Eagle Gold Mine last week.

A government briefing said after Victoria Gold (OTCPK:VITFF) issued its statement that 300 million litres of cyanide solution leaked from the tank in the incident and there was a “significant” risk of another slide at the mine.
The company also said it had received default notices from its lenders in connection with a $200 million credit agreement; it also revised downward from its previous 2024 outlook and said production at the Eagle mine remains suspended.
The Nacho Nyak Don First Nation has called for a halt to mining activities on its traditional lands and an independent investigation into the failure at the mine.
