NEAR Protocol’s X account hacked, here’s what we know so far

The NEAR Protocol

The first encrypted message was published on NEAR Protocol's X page at 18:18 UTC on May 8. The message, which resembles Morse code, says “Darkness is coming” when decoded.

Despite the dark ambience of the message, NEAR Foundation's Director of Marketing and Events, Yadira Blocker, responded to the cryptic voice with “something's cooking.”

In another X post, Blocker said that “Alpha is coming.”

Furthermore, the NEAR Protocol The last four X posts published by the official NEAR Protocol page say:

  • The sun rises in the east.
  • Recall your thoughts.
  • the darkness.
  • Reclaim your sovereignty.

While some X users believe it is possible that their NEAR Protocol X account may have been hacked, the company has not shared any notifications or warnings. NEAR also did not share anything regarding the encrypted messages.

Last month, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland's X account was hacked for promoting a cryptocurrency scam code called SPIDER. On March 20, hackers hacked a Trezor X account and launched a fake Solana-based cryptocurrency called TRZR.
