Tesla (NASDAQ: TeslaToyota Motor Corp. is set to conduct a remote recall of about 1.7 million vehicles in China, the State Administration for Market Regulation said.
The issue raised involves a potential failure to detect when the front trunk lid is opened. Unlocked, which obstructs the driver’s view and poses safety concerns.
This recall will be implemented through an over-the-air software update, and affects both imported and domestically manufactured models.
The recall will include imported Model S and Model X vehicles and China-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. The agency said the problem will be resolved through an over-the-air software upgrade.
Last week, 1.85 million Tesla cars were recalled in the US over a similar problem — a software glitch that failed to detect an unlocked hood.
Earlier, 1.62 million Tesla vehicles were recalled in China in January due to problems with the computer-assisted automatic steering system and door latch controls.
Tesla (TSLA) Stock Down 2.77% to $195.08 Tuesday after trading hours.
