The average wage of the Israeli employee increased by 5.1 % in 2024, compared to 2013, according to the reports of the Central Bureau of Statistics. Even after the inflation was taken into account, real wages increased by 1.9 %.

From a long -term perspective, the average real wage in Israel has increased by more than 30 % since 2011, although it decreased slightly in 2022 since 2021, and perhaps after the roaming epidemic but it rises again at a significant pace in 2023 and 2024.

The labor market is still narrow

Initial estimates for January 2025, which are relatively accurate, draw a less optimistic image. The average wage in January 2025 was only 2 % higher than the average wage in January 2024, so this is actually real wage erosion, given the inflation that, due to tax increases, was 3.8 % during this period. In fact, the wage decreased in January for Israeli workers a little and was only 13385 New, although the decrease in wages between December and January is normal. On the other hand, in terms of the number of jobs, there was a significant increase of 3.4 % compared to January 2024, and therefore the labor market is still particularly narrow.

Wages in technology increased faster in 2024, with an average of 31,858 per month in 2024, an increase of 6.8 % from 2023. The number of jobs increased by only 0.8 %, similar to the average in the rest of the economy, and therefore the percentage of technical jobs remains by 10 % of all jobs – in other words, there are about 400 thousand technical employees.

The number of foreign workers increased by 9.5 % in 2024, partly due to the absence of Palestinian workers who were prevented from entering Israel. The most dramatic changes were in agriculture, as there was a 13.8 % increase in foreign workers, and in construction, as there was a 71 % jump. However, this is still not enough to compensate for the loss of tens of thousands of Palestinian workers, because the number of jobs for workers from abroad increased by only 13,000.
