How co-founders Alex Clansey and Nicola McKenzie built Venture Planner

Meet husband-and-wife entrepreneurs, Alex Clansey and Nicola McKenzie, who co-founded Venture Planner—an AI-driven platform revolutionising how businesses create their plans.

Venture Planner is an artificial intelligence -based business planning platform that is co -founded by the husband and wife team, Alex Clansey and Nicola McKenzie.

Part of the Dunham McCarthy Group, Venture Planner automates tasks such as market research, financial prediction and document generation, allowing startups and businessmen to create easily comprehensive business plans. Since its launch in December 2023, the platform has quickly grown to serve more than 50,000 users in 22 countries.

Everything began when Nicolas asked for the mortgage advice from Alex – then the mortgage counselor – and the couple hit the idea of providing supplementary services to customers. They moved to innovate new concepts in writing, financing and insurance in the end, as they eventually formed a prosperous business empire that now includes six very successful projects. Venture Planner stands as his latest innovation, based on the Alex and Nicola joint engine to push the borders and create solutions that benefit both customers and the broader business community.

What is the inspiration behind your work?

The traditional methods of drafting business plans take a long time and are at risk of potential human error. During a New York trip to escape the crowded daily focus on business activities and thinking of some new ideas, we have set an opportunity to use artificial intelligence (AI) to transform the creation of business plans.

Venture Planner benefits from artificial intelligence to collect all the data needed to develop a comprehensive plan quickly and efficiently, which leads to the elimination of the need for exhausting manual data entry systems. In analyzing hundreds of data points, our program acquires a deep understanding of the idea of work and provides realistic financial expectations to support it.

How has the project plan developed since then?

Since our first launch in December 2023, the platform has been adopted in 22 countries. We now have more than 50,000 active users of 74 different companies using the solution. We also have a wide range of customers who use technology, including ambitious entrepreneurs, dynamic startups and experienced financial advisors.

Who are you like?

We do not have external counselors we look forward to; The largest source of inspiration and guidance has always been found. We have learned a lot of our individual experience and views, and we have published the fact that we are both incredible and unbelievable individuals who want to work to achieve a final goal. However, we make sure that we take time to share knowledge or advice with others, whether internally or externally.

If we look back, are there anything you would do differently? And why?

If we look back, we realize that we were not accurate enough with the recruitment process and check the background for new employees, especially in the first days of our work. We had a few bad apples over the years it could have avoided with a tougher examination. Now, we have a more comprehensive recruitment and examination process in place, but it was much better if we learned this lesson 15 years ago. These early errors in employment are not only caused by some headaches, but also taught us the difficult way how important you know who brings you to your team. If we can do this, we will definitely invest more time and resources in mastering employment and examining employees from the beginning.

What determines your way of doing business?

Since we manage Venture Planner and our other companies as an equal partnership, we make sure that there is a clear division of work according to our contradictory skills groups. If there are two people trying to do the exact thing all the time, then different opinions and curricula can hang any progress. With the project scheme, for example, one of us participates in developing the platform and the other takes over the marketing function. We divide our responsibilities based on what we are good and what we are not good, because it is the most effective way to accomplish things.

What advice will you just give to someone?

When you just start, it is easy to engage in the daily tasks of managing business. Our advice is to save time for strategic thinking, even when it seems that there is no time to avoid it. This may be simple, such as customizing a custom watch every week to retreat and think creatively in your work.

One of the options, if it is possible for you, is to take what we call “innovation” – a short chapter on your usual environment for recharge and brainstorming. It should not be a complete vacation or anything costly. Even the scene change – like working from a new space for a few hours – can help raising new ideas. If this is not realistic, finding smaller ways to give yourself a mental space is no less important. Once you get a strong idea, its construction to a well -studied action plan is necessary, and here can help tools such as Venture Planner.
