A senior Israeli source familiar with the details of the negotiations confirmed that Israel and Hamas had reached a ceasefire agreement for the hostages. The source said that after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s insistence, Hamas backed down from its demands at the last minute regarding the Philadelphia Corridor on the border between Gaza and Egypt.
US President-elect Donald Trump also publicly confirmed that an agreement to release the hostages and a ceasefire agreement had been reached.
