Major US indices open the last day of the week higher

Major indices are trading higher in early US trading. Gains in major indices are in the 0.3% range.

Eight minutes after opening:

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 114.82 points, or 0.29%, to 39,180.09 points.
  • The Standard & Poor's index rose 17.97 points, or 0.34%, to 5,285.82 points.
  • The Nasdaq index rose 44.07 points, or 0.26%, to 16,780.11 points.

The small-cap Russell 2000 index is currently trading up 12.92 points, or 0.63%, at 2,061.33.

For the trading week:

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell -2.14%. This would interrupt a five-week lead.
  • The S&P fell -0.30%. It's been on a four-week uptrend.
  • The Nasdaq is up 0.73% and the gain this week would be the fifth weekly advance in a row

In the US debt market, yields rose by about 2.0 basis points
