Mira Moratti, who was once responsible for technology in Openai during the development of Chatgpt, revealed a new laboratory – Machines Laboratory – with an initial team of about 30 researchers and engineers.
It is worth noting that the group includes many former Openai colleagues and appointments from DAFERT.AI and Google DeepMind.
Among the recruits John Shuleman, co -founder of Openai and head of research at Meading Machines Laboratory, Barrett Zouf, is another former Openai's researcher who takes the position of chief technology employee, and Jonathan Lachman, former commander of the Openai Special Projects Unit. MURATI, 35, described the goal of the new project as building AI capabilities that users can customize to meet their needs more effectively.
MURATI joined Openai as Vice President of Applied AI and partnerships in 2018, assuming the role of CTO in 2022. During a loud period in Openai, she briefly worked as temporary CEO when the founder Sam Al -Tamman suddenly rejected and returned it later in 2023. She resigned at the end. Last September “to create time and space” to follow a new project.
In a statement published on the company's new website, Thinking Machines Lab said it is working to “help people adapt artificial intelligence systems to work to meet their own needs”, while emphasizing open transparency and symbol. Its mission is to bridge the current gaps in understanding artificial intelligence by granting broader access to advanced machine learning tools and enhancing human and AI cooperation.
Former MURATI colleague in Openai, Sam Altman, recently talked about the power of manufacturing intelligence systems, if not sometimes being predicted. It is estimated that the latest models may be already able to deal with 5 percent of the “economic value” tasks, however these technologies will produce “a lot of good and a lot of bad” in society.
